ith an increased focus on tech-

nology, AAPEX 2016 delivered

its best event ever to keep

attendees ahead of the curve in the global

automotive aftermarket industry. Here’s a

look at highlights of the 2016 event:

A sold out exhibit hall with 2,259

exhibiting companies occupying

5,414 stands.

Thousands of automotive

replacement parts and new products for

diagnosing, maintaining and servicing

today’s high tech vehicles were on display.

More than 300 U.S. exhibitors that ex-

port.

AAPEX works closely with specialists

from the U.S. Commercial Service, the ex-

port promotion arm of the U.S. Department

of Commerce, to help attendees identify

companies that export. An advanced search

feature on the AAPEX website,

www.aapexshow.com,

is still available to

identify U.S. companies that export.

Attendees from 140 countries.

Network-

ing opportunities reached an all time high

with 43,339 targeted buyers. The number

of international buyers was 16,278. All

total, AAPEX and the SEMA show drew

more than 158,000 automotive aftermar-

ket professionals to Las Vegas.

International Buying Delegations and

New Matchmaking Program.

Interna-

tional Buying Delegations recruited by

U.S. Embassy Posts and International

Trade Associations topped 22 at AAPEX

2016. To learn more about the many

automotive commercial specialist. New

for 2016, the Auto Care Association, in

partnership with the International Trade

Administration and the U.S. Commercial

Service, hosted a matchmaking program

with Latin American buyers at AAPEX.

In addition, international buyers were

welcomed at two key networking events

during AAPEX: the 2016 AASA Overseas

Automotive Council (OAC) Global Recep-

tion and the Import Vehicle Community

Fabulous Networking Reception.

the New Packaging Showcase, attendees

had the opportunity to see the most inno-

vative and environmentally friendly packag-

ing designs.

Technology everywhere.

To keep attend-

ees ahead of the curve, AAPEX featured

all-new Let’s Tech presentations on topics

such as telematics, emerging vehicle

technologies and electronic steering.

AAPEX also debuted a new Automotive

Technology section on the show floor and

an AAPEXedu track dedicated exclusively

to connected car opportunities.

Retired

Four-Star General Michael Hayden spoke

during AAPEX to remind attendees that

the Web is the largest ungoverned space

in history. General Hayden is former

director of the Central Intelligence Agency

(CIA) and the National Security Agency

(NSA). “We are indeed vulnerable ... and

the wise consumer is the individual who

understands that he/she is buying vulner-

ability, as well as convenience, and works

very hard to reduce the vulnerabilities,”

said General Hayden.

All-new International Buyer Center.

International attendees were treated to

a newly designed and more comfortable

Buyer Center at AAPEX 2016. With its

private meeting rooms and interpreters,

the center was the perfect setting to meet

with U.S. companies that export.

AAPEX TV reported
